RUTHERFORD – Firefighters from several area companies were called to a residential neighborhood Wednesday after a fast-moving house fire spread to another house and at least one parked vehicle, firefighters and witnesses said.
The fire was reported about 11 a.m. at a two-story Colonial home in the 100 block of Francisco Avenue near Riverside Avenue. That home was destroyed.
Neighbors said the fire quickly spread to a neighbor's house.
At least one car parked in the driveway of the home where the fire started was also destroyed.
Several neighbors said the occupants of the home where the fire began were away.
Residents living near the fire fled with their pets and watched as firefighters from several area companies fought the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
